An Urban Retreat
Situated on the serene shores of Msasani Peninsula Bay, adjacent to the Dar es Salaam Yacht Club, the “Heritage Wing” of Coral Beach Hotel was originally envisioned by a Danish architect as an exclusive private villa. Designed to be a dreamy seaside escape from the hustle and bustle of a growing commercial capital, the villa featured palatial family rooms, an indoor waterfall, unique social spaces, open-air corridors, and extensive leisure facilities. However, this opulent home remained unfinished for many years.
Our story is one of entrepreneurial vision and resilience. In the early 2000s, a seasoned businessman navigating a midlife crisis, an eccentric Executive Chef who had fled the Bosnian War, and a budding local contractor came together to transform the villa into a private corporate membership club with 22 completely unique rooms. Named after the vibrant coral reefs of the Indian Ocean, the Coral Beach Club catered to the accommodation, meeting, and entertainment needs of the city’s key banks, mining companies, and NGOs. As Dar es Salaam's economy flourished, the “Tower Wing” was built in 2009, adding 41 modern rooms and transitioning the private club into a boutique hotel.
Today, Coral Beach Hotel is more than just a place to stay; it is a unique urban retreat in Tanzania’s largest and fastest-growing city. Welcoming guests from around the globe, we are deeply rooted in serving the vibrant business and social community that surrounds us.
